6. Magdeburg Fire and Explosion Protection Days

Call for Papers

On March 25 and 26, 2019, the University of Applied Sciences Magdeburg-Stendal and Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg will be hosting the 6th Magdeburg fire and explosion protection days at University of Applied Sciences, Breitscheidstraße 2, Magdeburg.

The 6th Magdeburg fire and explosion protection days will expectedly be carried out in four parallel sessions as following:

A) International fire and explosion safety research (in English language) in all the following areas of research

B) Defensive fire protection and disaster management: deployment strategy innovations, extinguishing optimization, territorial risk analysis, performance of volunteer fire departments, hard-standing and movement areas in cities, forest firefighting, disaster management organization, problems associated with extinguishing agent supply from the drinking water network

C) Structural and plant-specific fire protection: optimization of personnel rescue strategies, integrated fire protection concepts, quantitative and semi-quantitative fire protection solutions, modeling of natural fire, fire protection of insulating materials and new energy systems, fire scene investigations, construction materials and components testing, new extinguishing systems

D) Explosion protection and plant safety: new developments and improvements in the determination methods of safety related parameters, explosion modeling and simulations, pollutant dispersion and propagation, accident modeling, risk management

Unlisted and adjoining topics such as safety and emergency management concepts, Industrial safety etc. will also be considered.

Presentations, in the form of an abstract (one A4 page, single line spacing, font size at least 11 pts.), stating the author(s), company/institution and the title, should be sent by e-mail to Prof. Dr.-Ing. Michael Rost (michael.rost@hs-magdeburg.de) latest till 31.07.2018.

The conference is intended to cover different areas of fire and explosion prevention and mitigation strategies, bringing together application as well as research oriented topics.

Contributions on all topics related to Fire protection research and practice are requested. The call for papers is aimed at specialists, firefighters, scientists and doctoral students. Outstanding master's theses will also be considered.

All sessions will take place at the same venue, making it possible to "switch" between presentations at any time. Conference languages are German and English.
